BREAD CLASSES
"I am going to learn to make bread tomorrow. So you may imagine me with my sleeves rolled up, mixing flour, milk, saleratus, etc., with a deal of grace. I advise you if you don't know how to make the staff of life to learn with dispatch."
- Emily Dickinson
Breads of Scandinavia and Northern Europe
This new course will take you on whirlwind tour of Scandinavian breads for a lot less dough than your travel agent! Each week we will visit a different country and explore the diversity that makes this course so much fun. Examples might include the very popular Mjukkaka aka Polarbrød (perfect for sandwiches), Pulla Finnish cardamom braid, Lusse Bröd saffron buns, Havrebrød Danish oat bread, Julekage, Norwegian Mountain Bread, or an exceptional Vort Limpa with salted caramel crust.
The instructor will help beginners overcome yeast anxiety and expose seasoned bakers to several new recipes and techniques. This is a “participation type” course; each student will take home a loaf of bread or batch of goodies fresh-from-the-oven. We guarantee you'll have fun on this trip, and you won't even need a passport! 3 sessions
