Farmington Baking Classes - CANCELLED

Greetings Bakers & Chefs -

As you may have heard, Farmington Continuing Education cancelled my upcoming Rosemary Focaccia and Pizza Night classes. You should receive a refund shortly.

The reason for these cancellations was the Town's K-12 policy that does NOT allow me to require covid vaccination of students. All of my students are post K-12 and eligible for vaccination, so the policy makes no sense, especially for a largely senior student population.

In fact, the State of CT requires vaccination of everyone on all of its campuses (UConn, Central, Tunxis, etc).

Enrollments for these classes were also below my minimum of 6 students. I believe this was partly because published class descriptions did not include my covid protocol.

In contrast, by stating that vaccination is required for my West Hartford classes, more students felt comfortable signing up. Pretzels (this past Tuesday) had 16 registered and Bialys has 10 registered so far and may be full by the time it runs.

If you are interested in a fun hands-on baking or cooking class, please stop by my website and check out Assorted Pierogi & Piroshki (Oct 27) and New York Bialys (Nov 9).

These are running in the superb culinary classroom at Conard High School which is convenient to I-84 and easy to get to. The kitchens now have plexiglass dividers between stations, and each station has a sink, stove, stand mixer, microwave, and tools.

Registration links are HERE
