BREAD CLASSES
"I am going to learn to make bread tomorrow. So you may imagine me with my sleeves rolled up, mixing flour, milk, saleratus, etc., with a deal of grace. I advise you if you don't know how to make the staff of life to learn with dispatch."
- Emily Dickinson
Fun Italian Breads Series
This Fall mini-series will include 3 classes spaced out in 2 week intervals. With a focus on FUN while learning, we'll progress through increasingly wetter doughs. Beginning with breadsticks @ 65% hydration, then focaccia @ 75%, we'll end with ciabatta @ 85%. Whether you are new to yeast breads or an experienced baker, we guarantee you'll have fun while learning some new recipes and techniques.
Italian Breadsticks
Afraid of yeast? You're not alone! This class is well suited for beginners and will help you overcome "yeast anxiety." We'll be making twisted breadsticks using techniques developed by a "star baker" from Season 2 of The Great British Baking Show. Olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and roasted garlic will be available as options to add flavor and challenge experienced bakers.
This will be a “participation type” hands-on course, and each student will take home breadsticks fresh-from-the-oven. We will utilize the well equipped culinary classroom at Conard High School which is convenient to I-84. Class size will be limited, so be sure to sign up early. $5 materials fee is payable to the instructor.
