BREAD CLASSES
"I am going to learn to make bread tomorrow. So you may imagine me with my sleeves rolled up, mixing flour, milk, saleratus, etc., with a deal of grace. I advise you if you don't know how to make the staff of life to learn with dispatch."
- Emily Dickinson
Finger Breads
This course includes non-loaf breads that can be eaten without cutting such as rolls, buns, pastries, etc. Examples in my bread book include:
• Bagels
• Bialys
• Biscuits
• Breadsticks
• Buchty (Slovakian Breakfast Treats)
• Cinnamon Rolls
•
Crumpets (English Muffins)
• Knotted Dinner Rolls
• Paposecos (Portuguese Rolls)
• Pretzels
• Scones
• Sticky Buns
Technically, they could also include:
• any yeast bread dough baked as rolls
• any quick bread batter baked as muffins
Some benefits of finger breads over loaves are: faster baking times, easy to share, can freeze and thaw individually as needed. This is a “participation type” course for both beginners and experienced bakers. Each week students will take home batch of goodies fresh-from-the-oven. Session count varies by term.
